Applying
for Health Food Import Licence must conform
to the requirement of those regulations
and standards as follows.
1)Functional evaluation procedure and examination
method for health food:
Functional test using animals or adults
should be done based on the examination
method provided by this regulation. Whether
the application product has some functions
or notis determined in accordance with its
evaluation procedure.
2)Toxicological evaluation procedure and
method for food safety :
Toxicological test should be done based
on this regulation, and the product should
be confirmed to have no acute, sub-acute
or chronic hazards.
3) Food Hygiene Standard of the People's
Republic of China and General Requi-
rements on health food hygiene.
Laboratory test should be done according
to these two regulations mentioned above.
The imported health food must comply with
these requirements.
4)Regulation for health food labeling and
General standard of the People's Repub-
lic of China on food labeling:
The label and use introduction of the product
must comply with these two regulations.
5)Technical evaluation rule for health food
and rule of application and acceptance for
health food:
If applying for an Approved Code Number
and Certificate of Health Food, the applicant
should obey the procedure provided by these
two regulations and provide completed and
accurate application documents and samples.
6)Good manufacturing practice for health
food
The health food enterprise must meet the
requirements of this practice on the manufacturing
conditions, manufacturing activity and quality
control.
Difficulties in the application routine:
1.Right selection of the test items:
If the applicant select the test items
wrongly, unnecessary waste will be happened,
the time of test will be prolonged and
the application will be detained
2.Preparation of the application documents:
The quality of the documents is the key
of the application. Without qualified
application documents, it is often difficult
to be approved even for a good product.
3.Familiarity with the related regulations,
standards and technical requirements:
If the applicant doesn't familiar with
those regulations or standards, especially
lack of deep understanding to the implications,
principle mistakes will be made and the
application will lose.
Many technical requirements of the examination
and approval are not published in open
standards or documents, but they may be
the keys of the application. In addition,
there are some uncertain technical factors,
which can not be grasped easily by ordinary
applicants.
